Ruby McConnell, an Oregon native, is a registered geologist and outdoor adventuress who publishes work about nature, art, culture and politics, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of the environment and human experience. Ruby has written extensively about the Pacific Northwest and the outdoors in scientific journals and for Grain Magazine, Oregon Quarterly, Seattle Backpackers, Lane Monthly, Misadventures Magazine, and on her blog, Girl Gone Wild. Her first book, A Woman’s Guide to the Wild was published in 2016 to overwhelmingly positive reviews.
